HQLook the partBrand

A proper brand, made once and used everywhere.

We read your website and a short questionnaire, draft your logo, colours, type and the way you write, and you approve it on your phone. Everything else in HQ is made from it.

Brand setup with seven steps on a rail: Your business and What you have done, Logo marked next, and a Carry on button. Sample & Sons is a sample business, not a client.
Set up one step at a time, on your phone if you like. We fill in what we can from your website first.

Sound familiar?

Every time someone asks for the logo, I send a different file.

The signwriter wants a vector, the printer wants a file with bleed, Facebook wants a square, and what you have is a JPEG from years ago and a colour nobody ever wrote down. Nobody ever handed you a brand kit, so there is nothing to send.

Brand is where every HQ client starts, because everything else is made from it. Get it right once and the website, the adverts, the posts and the letters all match without anyone trying.

How it works.

A proper logo, colours and type that everything else is made from, so everything you send out looks like it comes from the same business.

The business shown is Sample & Sons, a sample business, not a client.

  1. Check the draft on one sheet, change anything that is not right, then approve it. Nothing is used until you do.

  2. Once you approve it, your brand is kept, and everything else in HQ is made from it.

  4. Business cards made from the brand, ready for the printer.

Seven steps, on your phone if you like.

Brand is where every client starts. You can stop at any step and carry on later, and we fill in what we can before you begin.

  1. Your business

What you do, who for and where. We fill in what we can from your website, and you correct it.

  2. What you have

Your current logo, photos of your sign or van, the colours you already use. A JPEG is enough.

  3. Logo

We prepare clean versions: for light and dark backgrounds, in one colour and as a small symbol. Remove any you don’t like.

  4. Colours

A small palette, checked so that words stay readable on it.

  5. Look and feel

Your type, the kind of photographs and the way you write: plain or friendly, formal or chatty.

  6. Review the draft

One sheet with every section. Change anything, or ask about it beside the section; the assistant answers, and Carl checks anything it can’t.

  7. Approve

Nothing is used until you approve. A later change is a new version; the approved one stays in use until then.

What is in your brand kit.

  • Logos for light and dark backgrounds, in one colour and as a small symbol, as print files and web files.
  • Your colours, with the codes your printer and anyone making things for you will ask for.
  • Your type: one face for headings, one for reading.
  • How you write: the words you use, the words you don’t, and example sentences.
  • Business cards, ready for the printer.
  • A letterhead and an email signature.
  • Social media covers and posts.
  • The picture shown when someone shares your website.

Already have a brand you like? Then we keep it, tidy the files and fill the gaps, so HQ makes everything from what you have.

Our own brand kit, made by the same brand service every HQ client starts with.

What it does, and what you need.

What it does

  • Reads your current website and a short questionnaire, then drafts your logo, colours, type and the way you write.
  • Shows you the draft on your phone, where you change what you want and approve it.
  • Makes the files you need: logos for light and dark backgrounds, business cards, letterhead, social media covers and an email signature.
  • Keeps the approved brand, so every website, advert, post and document HQ makes starts from it.

What you need to start

  • Your business name and what you do.
  • Your website address, if you have one.
  • Your logo, if you have one. A photo of the sign or an old JPEG is enough to start.

How it works with the rest of HQ.

Questions about Brand

Do I need a logo already?

No. If you have one, even as a photo of the sign on your van, we start from it and make clean versions. If you don’t, your brand draft includes one.

What if I don’t like the draft?

Change it. Every section can be changed or questioned before you approve, and the assistant answers beside the section you are looking at; Carl checks anything it can’t. Nothing is used until you approve it.

Can I give the files to my printer or signwriter?

Yes. The logo library files every version by who is asking for it, and you can download any of them and send it on.

Can I change the brand later?

Yes. A change makes a new version for you to approve. The approved one stays in use until you approve the new one.
